What does 1/10 or tithe means to you? Is there 1/10 or tithe required of you to give to God? Is 1/10 or tithe a free-will offering or feel of guilt if I missed the giving? There are many more questions for the pros and cons of charity giving (donation).
A church is supported by their memberships financial contributions. Do you know that charitable organisations that is classify as 501(c)(3) in USA also encourage charity donations? What are the differences between a church and a non-church organisation in perspective of donations?
In USA, charity donations to any 501(c)(3) organisation entitled the donor to tax exemption. I do not know about other countries. More than one-half of the donations collected goes to administration costs rather than purpose/objective of the organisation.
I rather forgo the tax exempt benefits and help those who need help directly than through USA charity organisations.
